Poems
Anybody who uses his or her mind and time wisely can write
these different types of poetry. Y'all don't need fancy words - though, it's a good idea to
have a dictionary and a thesaurus. Write what ever you feel passionate about: anger,
happiness, sadness, or anything random. Let your pencil be your guide and write until your
fingers get tired...
Welcome to DNL's seas of poetry where you can swim through flowing streams. Here you can
send in free-verse, songs, haiku, fibs, sonnets, and other forms.
Free Verse
This form requires no old-fashion rules. There is no need of rhyming, matching
syllables, or anything of that elaborate matter. Write as you will.
I touched the arid grass. Its
Swords of green smeared against my
Smooth fingers causing my body to whither.
This pain I feel seems endless, like a whirlwind
Devouring anything in its path.
Clutching a nearby stick, I regain my strength
And begin to fight the sleepless creature: wearing
Only a pack of leather
Whoa, Dinker, that was like... dry fart.
Yeah, thanks much... Hey where'd you get those shades?
Uhhh... [runs]
Haiku
Haiku is a Japanese poetry
type started in the 19th century and is derived from Japan's ancient forms of poetry. To
create one: write words that consist of 5-7-5 syllobals with only three lines.
"Darkness of Kokiri Forest" by Dinker
Dark globe engulfs sky.
All turn into fireflies.
Great Deku Tree dies.
Fibs
Ah, a poetry structure that uses the Fibonacci sequence. This idea came fromGregory K. It's
pretty simple like the Haiku. You just need to find the right words and ideas. So there are
six lines - you can add more - and each line contains a syllbal of 1/1/2/3/5/8.
"What I Play" by Dinker
I
play
Legend
of Zelda
on my Nintendo.
This adventure lasts forever.
